I'm Rosy, a qualified Lactation Consultant, Midwife and Health Visitor, currently working for the NHS.
With my knowledge, I would love to help you and your family on your infant feeding journey. I've seen first hand the impact infant feeding can have on the lives of many families. Whether it be baby's development, maternal health and/or parental wellbeing, the significance of infant feeding is far reaching and support is often required at this special but also vulnerable time in people's lives. I want to be there to help you and your family in meeting your infant feeding goals. I strive to do so in the most compassionate, calm and non-judgemental manner.

What is a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and what can they help with?
"International Board Certified Lactation Consultants function and contribute as members of the maternal-child health team. They provide care in a variety of settings, while making appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community support resources. Working together with mothers, families, policymakers and society, IBCLC certificants provide expert breastfeeding and lactation care, promote changes that support breastfeeding and help reduce the risks of not breastfeeding." (IBCLCE, 2022).
95 Hours of Breastfeeding education and 1000 practice hours are required to sit the 4 hour degree level IBCLC exam.

About me
Hello,

My name is Rosy Le Bon and I'm a qualified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Midwife (BSc), Health Visitor (SCPHN PgDip.) and Family Nurse (FNP).

I first started providing breastfeeding support 9 years ago whilst training to be a NHS Midwife in a busy London hospital. I had just finished a Psychology degree, and knew I wanted to work in a people-centred role. I loved seeing new lives being born and families being made, but my favourite part of the role was having the time to sit with new parents and guide them in the transition to parenthood, whether that be providing antenatal classes or breastfeeding support in a baby's first few hours in the world. Investing time into people became a running theme in what I found most rewarding in my career path. As a student, I continued to love visiting families in their homes, within the community, to provide postnatal support, particularly in terms of breastfeeding. I saw how infant feeding can have such a huge impact on the wellbeing of all involved, and how it can come with frustration, guilt and isolation without adequate support. This is where I hope to help!

Not long after I qualified as a Midwife, I decided to capitalise on the part of my job I found most enjoyable and trained to become a NHS Health Visitor! I was a key member of the infant feeding team, and often ran the Merton breastfeeding drop in, which is where my passion for all things infant feeding grew further and my IBCLC training commenced.

Three and a half years later and eager for a new challenge, I became an NHS Family Nurse. Again, a role embedded in building therapeutic relationships. I worked alongside young parents, seeing them on a fortnightly basis during pregnancy and their baby's first 2 years of life, with the main aim of improving their health, wellbeing, happiness and aiding their babies to thrive.

I have now returned to health visiting and outside of this I put my Lactation Consultant qualification to further use and provide infant feeding support on a self-employed basis to those who may need it. Please get in touch if this is something you require or would like to learn more about - I would love to hear from you!
